This is the only picture we have of Miriam.
The picture was found among her daughter's (Becky Berenblut) belongings when she
passed away in 1989.
Her life story
- Her full name was: Miriam Leah Maria Louisa
- Miriam was born in Karva (see note 2 below) on 14/05/1871
(note 3) to Menachem Mendel Meisels and Sara Rachel.
- She married Shmuel Menachem Mendel Herszkowicz
in Lodz on 23/07/1888 (15th of Av).
- Her first child, Yoseph Jacob, was born in Lodz and soon after they moved to Antwerp,
Belgium where they had 5 more children: Becky, Jeanne, Jules, Maurice and Esther.
- Her husband, Shmuel, died in 1912.
- During the First World War she moved to London, England with her children and most of
her family.
- When the rest of her family returned to Antwerp after the war, she remained in England,
and married Mr. Drezner.
- Later they moved back to Antwerp.

- Mr. Drezner died in the 1930's.
Miriam was deported to Concentration Camp on Transport XVIII/915.

- In the Marriage Cert. she was born in Karva.(Karva is not yet located)
In most of her children's birth Cert. her husband declared that she was born in Warsaw,
except on one (Jules's) it mentions Lodz.
- Her name is shown as Maria Ludwina (?) on Jules's Certificate.
- January 1999, I visited Antwerp.
I Found a book (memorial to the Belgian deportees) at Izy Rabshtein,
where it is noted that she was deported on Transport XVIII/915.
Her Birth date is registered as 4/06/1871.
